Fiscalizan impacto ambiental del Puerto de Guayacán en Coquimbo

El jueves 29 de octubre, la Seremia de Salud en compañía del Municipio de Coquimbo, realizó una visita de inspección a las instalaciones del Puerto Guayacán de la Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP), con el objetivo de verificar el funcionamiento de las medidas de control en materia de emisiones de partículas y su relación con las denuncias de la comunidad.
La inspección fue realizada gracias a una solicitud realizada por el alcalde de la comuna porteña, Marcelo Pereira, al Seremi de Salud Alejandro García, de ejecutar medidas fiscalizadoras medio ambientales a aquellas empresas instaladas en el sector de Guayacán; y que por su preexistencia a la Ley Nacional 19.300, sus instalaciones, procesos y etapa de cierre, no ingresaron al Sistema Nacional de Evaluación Ambiental.
Al respecto Marcelo, alcalde de Coquimbo, comentó que a través de la Dirección de Gestión Ambiental y Zoonosis Municipal, se está trabajando por la preservación del medioambiente y por la calidad de vida de los vecinos “es importante dar cuenta a la comunidad que la municipalidad, por medio de nuestro programa “Contigo Más Fiscalización” está presente en todas las fiscalizaciones, inspecciones y regularizaciones que deben hacerse en las empresas que están en la bahía de Guayacán, que incluye a la CMP, ENAMI, petróleras y pesquera Orizon, Aguas del Valle, entre otras, siendo un nexo conductor entre las entidades fiscalizadores, las empresas y nuestra comunidad”.
En la oportunidad la Compañía Minera del Pacífico se comprometió a realizar nuevas medidas favorables al medio ambiente, entre ellas, el regadío y limpieza 1 vez por mes de las cortinas de pantallas eólicas, delimitación de pilas con sistema de barrera de seguridad New Jersey, encarpetado de talud canchas de acopio, control de material particulado en las 6 estaciones (PM10 y PM5) y cambio en el sistema de carguío para evitar los ruidos molestos hacia la comunidad.
Cabe destacar, que la empresa CMP ingresó voluntariamente durante el año en curso al Sistema de Evaluación de Impacto Ambiental. En el año 1997 fue autorizada por la autoridad sanitaria para operar el abatimiento de material particulado, además entrega, a la SEREMI de Salud Coquimbo, mensualmente los resultados del monitoreo PM10 de su estación, y desde enero 2020 realiza el monitoreo para PM2,5 por material de granulometría, ambos monitoreos sirven para caracterizar la distribución espacial de la concentración de contaminantes o para evaluar las contribuciones de las fuentes de emisión en el aire.

En base a lo planteado, la Seremi de Salud manifestó que no existen disconformidades, sin embargo, la Municipalidad de Coquimbo se mantendrá a la espera del informe oficial de la fiscalización, con el fin de dar a conocer lo estipulado a la comunidad afectada.
